Ecclesiastes 3:1 expresses “To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven.” So we believe there should be a “because” for every Cause you give to, embrace or champion. We found our Cause in a little village called Beaudoin on the outskirts of the coastal town Jacmel in Haiti.
“The City of Light” was the moniker given to Jacmel, Haiti in 1925 when it became the first city in the Caribbean to have electricity. Almost a century of dictators, economic depressions and natural disasters have taken it’s toll on this once bright city.
At City of Lights we believe the people of Jacmel are the lights that will shine unto a new, brighter day. We desire to see this village community transformed with suitable housing, sustainable businesses and inspired leadership.
Our guiding principles are based on the Scriptures in Matthew 5:14,16 “Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hid…Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”
Simply put, we desire to meet the spiritual and physical needs of a community called Beaudoin in southern Haiti by selling coffee. 100% of the profits from this business will go to organizations and efforts that seek to alleviate the profound material and personal poverty of the hundreds of people who live there.
